Lacinato Kale in Smoky Garlic Sauce Recipe

Great side dish for the Holidays!




  • 2 Tbsps avocado oil, extra-virgin olive oil

  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced

  • 6 fresh garlic cloves, thinly sliced .5 cup organic tomato sauce

  • 1.5 tsps smoked paprika

  • sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup broth (vegetable, organic chicken, or beef)

  • 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar

  • 4 (3/4-pound) bunches washed lacinato kale , thick stems cut out, leaves cut into thick strips (about 14 packed cups total)


  1. Place a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add oil.

  2. Once hot, add onions and garlic and stir until they begin to turn translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add tomato sauce and smoked paprika, broth and vinegar.

  4. Reduce heat to medium and bring to a boil.

  5. Add the kale, cover, and cook for a minute or two, until it begins to wilt.

  6. Stir well to combine and simmer until tender, for about 25 minutes.

  7. Season with sea salt and pepper if needed and enjoy!
