EAT to Improve your MOOD
Work these foods into your daily diet to lower stress, calm the crankies and feel happier.
Bananas, almonds, pumpkin/sunflower seeds, cashews, ground flaxseed contain magnesium.
Magnesium helps metabolize sugar in your blood and also calms the nervous system, allowing you to feel less anxious.
The parts of your brain regulating mood rely on neurons that need zinc to function their best. Research finds that zinc can help lessen feelings of depression. Add spinach, swiss chard, oysters, pork and chickpeas to your diet to enjoy the benefits.
And my personal fav-
Cocoa in chocolate hits the same receptors in your brain as endorphins, which is why it has a calming effect, making you feel happy. Choose dark chocolate with at least 70% cacao and limit yourself to one ounce per day.

In a blender combine
2 C fresh baby spinach
1/2 C plain low-fat yogurt
1/4 C fresh pineapple (or can use frozen from Trader Joe's)
1/4 C - 1/2 C fresh orange juice
2 T ground flaxseed or chia seeds
Blend. Serves 2
